one of my traders deserted. He did not bring any money with him , neither he did any trouble by leaving. Was he a spy from another kingdom that could not accomlish his mission, or desertion is really just an event?
He probably was a spy from a kingdom that got eliminated. If it happens again, you can check the events log and see if it mentions a kingdom being eliminated and know for sure if that is what happened.

It could also be a kingdom recalling their spy for reassignment elsewhere.

Or, also very propable, a kingdom recalling the spy because they can't afford him anymore. The AI often has problems with that and has to send many knights away because they just get too expensive in some situations.

ok, it was the first time it ever happened to me, usually they leave and by doing it, they mess up something :rolleyes:
