how do you unite england?

i am York and have taken over all the provinces that england has in the present day but how do you unite them to become england?
or is it not possible?

You need to play as Normandy then after conquering England and eliminating the earldoms in England (All of them have to be elimated, even if they still live in Russia) you can unite England. York cannot unite England.

As Carbon stated you have to start as Normandy! But you only have to eliminate Wessex and Anglia from the game. In addition to eliminating Wessex and Anglia, you must possess the realms, Kent, Cornwall, Anglia and Mercia. York does not have to be eliminated. Upon unification the realm of York becomes part of your jingdom, even if the kingdom of York remains in the game holding other realms. If you are playing with patch 1.05 you will become the Kingdom of England and your King's name is changed to William. Without patch 1.05, you become the Duchy of England.
