Spearmen

In the description of the spearmen is written that they are helpful against the mounted units but in the stats this is not mentioned as a bonus. Is it true in game or is it simply an "hysotical note"?

It is true. Dreadfully true if you ask me, because I hate it when some spearmen slaughter my poor cavalry that was supposed to decide the battle :( .
