When my Teutonic Knights butcher their daily amount of peasants, sometimes one of them dies (of old age I'm sure). To bring to unit up to 100% again, I have to pay their full price in gold again. A costly affair.

The marshall ability "Healer" reduces up to 70% of losses. Does this mean I get my knights back up to 100% for free? I doesn't happen in the game I'm playing....

So: what exactly does the marshall ability "Healer"?

i think:

70% Healing will restore 70% of the taken damage after(!) the battle has finished. It does not mean, that you can get your Unit up to 100% again.

e.g. a unit has 1000 hitpoints, losing 200 in battle. 70% of 200 will be restored after the battle (140), for the army has a total of 940 hitpoints left.

Eye-Q is correct. The healer skill is still a must have as far as I am concerned. 70% is a nice chunk.

70%? great.. is that level 3 of that skill? first it is 20% i remember (level 1).

Thanks for your reply Eye-Q, but it's still unclear for me. I don't know about any hitpoints, I see that my Teutonic Knight unit is a bunch of 20 little guys and during the battle one of them keels over and dies.

If I get 70% of my losses back, then I get 0.7 knight back, so the unit consists of 19 guys and one dwarf?

I don't know wether 0.7 is rounded up or down, but if you loose 2 teutonic knights on the battlefield the Healer-skill (level 3) will restore one of them.

Kind of necromancy... ;)

hmm hitpoints where just an example to describe the healing effect itself. alas, i don't know exactly how the restoration is calculated in relation to the units. sorry.

but in worst case, the restoration will be rounded down to a full unit.

Small comment on hitpoints:
All soldiers have exactly one hitpoint.
