I'm playing the game on normal and as a muslim realm. More than 75% of my conversions end up failing with my cleric being killed! Are conversions suppose to be THAT difficult?

Are you sending them fresh out of a qu'ran school or train them first (hopefully)? :p

As long as your king has not at least 2 stars in religion, converting is really hard.
Usually i wait for a piet 3 stars king, before i try it. If you donīt have the time, try it with highranking clerics. Every failure will cost you 5000 books, but the chance is much better.

I have one cleric knight that I have had from the very beginning of the game. He now has 5 stars worth of learning/experience. I constantly use him to govern any new province I take over, then use him to convert the religion if necessary and then have him adopt the province as well. Then, I start the process over by recalling him and placing him in the next conquered province. My rebellions are way down, hardly happen at all anymore. The drawback is that my marshalls don't get a lot of "easy" training, but it is worth it not having to run around smacking all these loyalists and rebels about, because I am certain that if they successfully plunder one of your villages, that revenue decreases until it automatically rebuilds.

Your strategies worked well!

I must say, I do miss declaring JIHADS!

Just another update on this strategy, at least as far as my current game goes. I have been tracking it now for over 5 hours worth of gameplay and have not had one single act of rebellion or loyalist uprising in any province where my cleric has done his work.

what does it mean when the clerics "adopt a population", and i thank you for this discussion, i was wondering how to suppress the rebels once and for all.

yeah? i think adopt population means, that clerics ''talk with people'' and they try to make em feel better.

Adopt populace reduces the nostalgy rating (by 1 per 100 books used)

i find the number of books in the kingdom wealth, then, middle tab right?

yup. thats right! and you can see in the "adopt population" tooltip how many books you have to spend (nostalgy is always reduced to 0 and is automatically decreasing while you are at peace)

I always save before I convert, and redo it if it fails, sometimes it works... I know, a bit lame, but hey... I don't want pagan/catholic/muslim provinces.

yeah, that's right! i save a lot, too and also reload. it's the only way to save your cleric if your king has less then 3 stars in religion

I found certain provinces to be hard to convert - Rum killed two of my clerics while Crimea was converted by an almost unskilled cleric.

Currently I am playing with the Golden Horde and I am unable to get a cleric becasue they start off being pagen. I have tried to convert my entire Kingdom(13) and lost almost half of them (thank god I saved before). Any ways I am trying to get some advice on the best why to convert with little lose. Any suggestions?

Educating them is all I can think of.

@ american knight

Iīve had the same prob as the mongolempire (56Provs). The point is nostalgy.
as long as there is 1% and its still pagan the prov will seperate from your kingdom, if you try to change religion.
And cause you canīt use clerics to adopt the people, you have to wait til nostalgy is at 0
