View Full Version : Time is the real flaw

I haven't got the full version yet, so this is from only playing the demo multiple times.

There is no continuity on a chronologic scale ( big school words, sorry)

What I mean is, time is a very random thing.

Day and night happen whenever, your King gets old before you know it. But it takes forever to build a simple Inn, while training feudal knights happens in an instant. Trade & treaties between two countries take a second but marching an army between them can take several minutes.

Don't get me wrong I love this game and I have worked it into the budget for next month. This is the one flaw that nags at the back of my mind. That and my gripe about the units. See this (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=1518)

There are a whole lot of units if you manage to get provinces in every corner of the world...

Heres one for you that made me smile. My oriiginal Marshall got really experienced and stayed with me for about five kings. The problem came when I had no prince so my original marshall took up the position of King. Only then did he die of old age...

Lucky immortal Marshalls! :silly:

i know.. knights live forever untill they get a position at which they suddenly age.. Funny to watch a guy with a beard next to a line that says very young though..

I'm more concerned about how units build in a flash but buildings take forever.

It would take months to train/orginize a group of swordmen. This has to be the reason a marshal is required to build units in the first place. he is the drill instructer. as it is now, he rides into a large town and before the construction crew working on a church can swing a hammer, he rides out with 6 squads of trained archers.

I just think there should be some continuity between the 2 concepts. so either training units takes time or buildings are created instantly. It could work just same way as food does now. have a slot above food that fills with build hammers. building something simple like an inn takes 50, while something complex like fortifications takes 300.

also this would make the Builder Knight more important, he is the construction manager & is required to build anything. it would slow the game down a bit cause you could not build up very fast. atleast not without several Builders.

Just an idea.
