View Full Version : Anyone ever play Castles?

A long time ago when I was a kid my cousin had a PC game called Castles. The graphics were great for it's time and basically it had the same concept of having RTS combined with managing your kingdom through diplomacy and all that other good stuff. The game proved to be quite entertaining when it came to the diplomacy part you had the option to excile people or even have them beheaded among many other options. Has anyone else ever played the game and if so know Knights will be similar?

It's pretty hold we use to play the game on our 386 PC just to give you an idea, I'll look for some pics though.

Sure I've played it. It was a very good game with a concept I think still holds. But no, KOH won't be like Castles. In Castles you build your own castle, and not much else really. In KOH you don't build Castles, you conquer the world.

Perhaps a Castles thread would be better suited in the Off Topic forum.

Castles and Castles II were really good games.
These games are abaddon...You can download from certain web - sites , because Castles series are very old games and developers of this tittles simply abaddon those games.
But unfortunatelly you maybye will have a little problems with starting those games on new Windows XP and new computers.. But you should try... You will have true 'medieval feeling' playing that games;)

I thought castles 1 was alot better than castles 2, there was something about castles 2 i didnt like

Sorry I wasn't trying to make this off topic I just wanted to know if Knights was similar to Castles in the diplomacy sense.

So you don't build your own castles in this game? Kind of happy about that actually I lacked creativity when it came to that.

hmmm,... well,... well there is not real a game that can describe knights of honor,... i would say its a mix between medieval total war and stronghold with a bit of the "anno games"

KoH adepts to the player - if the player wants to raise an army and fight all-day-long, he may do so. If the player wants to gain influence by diplomacy, he may do so. If the player wants be kind and make everyone in his kingdom satisfied (=stuffed with food), he may do so.

So it's up to the player how he wants to play KoH: all the extremes from above and anything in between.

That's a really nice site actually, but I have to warn you of evils such as popups on that site.

I was playing Castles I the other day and the game crashed when my Castle was just about finished. :(
