Does the garrison affect the defense of the towns and regions? If I fill a town with premium units do they help suppress rebellions etc... or do they just affect the game if the main keep is assaulted?

Also what determines if an attacked town is assaulted or sieged?

c

thanks for any responses

They only help if the town is assaulted or if you want to refill your armies quickly with premium units.

From what I have seen the computer always besieges a city unless it has no pallisade or better wall. There may be some algorythm that tells it to assauly if it has overwhelming odds and is low on food but I haven't seen it in action.

If the Beseiger has overwhelming odds, then the Seige can turn into a direct Assault. I think the same thing goes with the Players. But maybe someone can correct me.
